This community is dedicated to the Traditional Appalachian Dulcimore and is mainly about the traditional Appalachian dulcimore.
We do however welcome modern dulcimer or stick dulcimers and their variations and there is a separate category for other instruments if you would like to post about them.
We're not elitists. We're not against the modern day dulcimer. We realize, without the popularity of the modern dulcimer the Traditional Appalachian Dulcimore would probably be gone away.
But just as there are fans of the old gourd banjo, rather than the modern resonator banjo, we're fans of the Traditional Appalachian Dulcimore.
There are plenty other websites dedicated to the modern dulcimer. As well as countless social media pages if you find this site is of no use for you. But as traditional Appalachian dulcimore fans we feel there's a need for this forum.
A few simple rules:
I don't have a problem with in-depth discussion or respectful debate. But I won't tolerate heated arguments or heated debate here. Also not tolerated, is foul language or potty mouth. This includes abbreviated text language which is basically saying the same thing. I will delete any of the above offenses without warning.
Also, feel free to post any dulcimer videos you want. But ONLY videos or audios with a dulcimer being played. If the media don't have a dulcimer in it, it ain't welcome here.
Additionally, this community isn't about debating or discussing lifestyles, politics, religion, etc., it's about the Traditional Appalachian dulcimore.
Thanks and have a great time!
