George Haggerty, founder of the August Dulcimer Daze festival, luthier, teacher and more... passed on June 2nd. I had the honor, a couple years ago, to substitute teach a Noter class at the Mount Dora Festival here in Florida, when George was suddenly taken ill.

Although I only attended August Dulcimer Daze once (and left early because I became ill), George provided a good festival. He was a great promoter of the mountain dulcimer and folk music in general. He taught at many other festivals. He will be missed.

saltsprings: Yup, I remember dispatching a monster of one on Crosslink road in Raleigh, back in the day when I was a cop on the midnight shift. Sun came up and kids were starting to walk along side the road and that rascal was right out there with a bad disposition. Sept 20, 2023 23:12:16 GMT -5
