I may finally get to attend the gathering in 2021, and I'm curious about the dorm situation at the college. I've read lots of good comments in other threads, but things are still a little weird health-wise. Are single rooms available there? Do they have their own attached bathrooms/showers? I've had my shots now and look forward to a little more freedom in the coming months, but I'm still a little concerned about lodging in close quarters. Thanks.
Parker135, I don't think we can do single rooms, we may be able to look into it. It is dorm life with community bathroom with showers. It's not for everyone we understand, there is a place to stay next door if that helps.
Ah, okay. No worries. I've stayed in the dorms at Olivet College for Midwest Banjo Camp, and they happen to have the single room option and semi-private bathrooms, but that's a probably a rarity and certainly not what I had in college! I appreciate knowing the setup there in Berea so I can plan accordingly. Thanks, Dan.
I haven't heard from the College yet whether it will be singles or two to the room.
Lodging in "Bring Your Own Bedding" as it was in the past.
Do not yet know lodging/food prices for 2021. Last year would have been $22 per night, and meals $5 each. Let's hope it has stayed the same. No matter how you look at it food and lodging are a great deal.
YES. Because of Covid-19, this year we are only going to accept folks who pre-register. Probably May 15th but don't hold me to that. There will be no "register at the door". The College needs to know how many are coming, and so do we, for various reasons including attendee safety.
We aren't really a travel agency. If you don't want to stay in the very nice dorms in a single or double room, it's up to you to find a place. Berea isn't big. there are a handful of inns, motels, BnBs and campgrounds nearby. We aren't recommending anywhere.
David Bennett: Thanks Claw. I don't know yet but you know how it does with the plastic and molding on cars... $10 worth of damage can cost $2,000 to repair... TBD

johnknopf: Sounds like driving in Lexington, David! Glad nobody was hurt, but it's sad about your car!

Kevin: No one wants a wrecked car, but those can be fixed. Glad you weren’t hurt.

David Bennett: Getting aggravated with the estimate app my insu co sent. Won't work. Have to take car in. I think my TMB excursion yesterday will not be cheap. At least we got to try a slugburger though.

kenl: So, how was the slugburger? Inquiring minds want to know?

David Bennett: Slugburgers were tasty. More on that later...

David Bennett: 80 Dulcimers minus your age plus 40 will give you the year you were born. (usually works, I think it depends how close you are to your birthday)

johnknopf: I'm allergic to slugs, worms and leeches, so I can't eat those. What a bummer.
