johnknopf: "Good morning to you, good morning to you, good morning, dear dulse-mores, good morning to you". Nov 24, 2020 8:38:21 GMT -5

Bobby: Good almost noon to ya'll! Hope you're having a great day! Nov 24, 2020 11:23:40 GMT -5
stacy: Hi Dave,Ann and Nina, Ken, I won’t be joining tonight on zoom. I’m exhausted from babysitting all day. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Nov 24, 2020 17:18:14 GMT -5
Bobby: Wake up clawhammer! Times a waistin! Good morning ya'll! Nov 25, 2020 2:33:41 GMT -5
kenh: Wake UP Wednesday! Nov 25, 2020 6:38:35 GMT -5
tinkerbell: I just put myself in line for a Thomas dulcimer with John Knopf. Now I just need to decide on Poplar or Walnut. What a nice guy John is. Nov 25, 2020 15:54:59 GMT -5
Kevin: Both. Haha I have one of his walnut ones and love it. Get the possum board with it. It’s worth the extra few bucks. I wish I would have gotten it when I bought mine. Nov 25, 2020 16:16:49 GMT -5
kenh: Kevin -- I'll bet if you sent a tracing of the bottom of your Thomas that John might...just might... be able to make a possum board that would fit. For a "nominal" fee of course. Nov 25, 2020 16:23:32 GMT -5 *
Kevin: I texted him before. He preferred to have the actual dulcimer to “custom” fit it. Nov 25, 2020 16:50:50 GMT -5
Kevin: I figure if Berea happens I might be able to give it to him then. Nov 25, 2020 16:59:48 GMT -5
tinkerbell: Possum board is a go for me. The perfection tuners are a go also . The only decision is wood type. Any ideas or comments? Nov 25, 2020 17:16:56 GMT -5
Kevin: I could be wrong, but I don’t think you’ll notice much difference in sound between the walnut or poplar. It’s a pretty small bodied dulcimore. I might think possibly a little brighter with walnut. Walnut is probably shellac finish so you will see grain Nov 25, 2020 19:16:02 GMT -5
Kevin: Poplar most likely painted black so appearance could be the biggest difference Nov 25, 2020 19:16:44 GMT -5
tinkerbell: Anybody have a black painted poplar Thomas from Knopf. Does the paint rub off on your pants, shirt or other fabric? That is my worry with the black painted model. Nov 25, 2020 20:21:47 GMT -5
clawhammer7: I have 2 of John's dulcimores (a Tennessee Music Box and a Will Singleton)...both are poplar, and both sound fantastic! It may come down to what you like looking at. Nov 25, 2020 20:24:54 GMT -5
clawhammer7: Have a Happy Thanksgiving everybody! Nov 25, 2020 20:47:32 GMT -5
johnknopf: Kevin, a tracing of the bottom would work fine. And it's easier for everybody to deal with. So don't hold back on THAT account. I wouldn't bet on a Berea event this year, but I dearly hope I'm WRONG! Nov 25, 2020 22:04:47 GMT -5
johnknopf: Tinkerbell, if you play a black poplar nestled in its possum board with an unpainted bottom, you'll have no worries, right? Nov 25, 2020 22:07:44 GMT -5
kenh: Tinkerbell -- I've been playing one of John's black-painted Thomas replicas for several years and have NEVER had an issue with paint rubbing off on anything!!! Nov 25, 2020 22:41:20 GMT -5
