Goldenseal: West Virginia Traditional Life, Volume 14 Number 1, Spring 1988
This Goldenseal article interviewed Wilkie Dennison, a farmer, preacher, and prominent fiddle maker. The article says he was born January 3, 1911.
Wilkie Dennison: Country Fiddlemakerby Gerald Milnes The article mostly tells of his growing up and his fiddle making prowess. On page 27: "...in 1978, someone brought him a very old dulcimer to repair. While it was apart, Wilkie took a pattern from it and later built one for himself. He found the fingerboard on the old one was hollow and believes this is what gives a dulcimer a good sound. He incorporates this feature into his own dulcimer."
Wilkie died January 30, 1993.
Notice in the photo the zither pins on the dulcimer.
